Having said that, you might try any one of the several image recovery programs such as Free Undelete, Digital Image Recovery or PC Inspector. The moral of this story is ALWAYS to have a backup separate from the computer. You may find that the original version of the picture is in the list, and if so, can choose it to be restored.
But in Windows 7 (uinsg Windows Explorer) you can right click on the file, choose Properties, and select the Previous Versions tab. From you description it sounds like this isn't the case, however.
If these were raw, and the altered pictures were save as jpegs or tiff, then the original raw file should still exist. The thing is in the thumbnails the original version picture still shows- without the edits my nephew made.ĭoes anyone know of a way to restore the pictures to the original state? Can I use the exif data from the thumbnail? Is there possibly a program for this? So there are no other copies of those pictures anywhere. Heres the thing.on my parents computer (Win 7) there are a number of pictures that have been cropped (by my nephew thinking he was being funny by adding big smiley faces etc.) and saved that way. Don't ask how it happened because I'm not sure myself.
